The following types of interactions nurture children and build their self-esteem:

	communicating openly
	listening to your child
	including your child in discussions
	giving age-appropriate responsibilities that take into consideration the attention span of your child
	setting firm limits and boundaries
	supporting and understanding your child's world
	being a positive role model
	practicing loving discipline
