National PTA President's Letter Taking Time To Reflect and RecognizeFor PTAs, the end of the school year is an occasion to reflect on the past year and recognize those who have played a role in the work of the organization. To ensure the ongoing success of your PTA, I suggest setting aside time to think about this year’s accomplishments and challenges. You might consider devoting part of your last meeting of the year to questions such as:
As you wrap up one year and prepare for the next one, make it a priority to celebrate the work of all the individuals who gave to the PTA. Whether people volunteered for one hour or three months, whether they donated $5 or $500, all of their contributions need to be recognized. Don’t forget to thank the school’s administrators, teachers and support staff who helped your PTA operations run smoothly. Finally, any community or business leaders who have worked with your PTA should also be acknowledged for their contributions. As I prepare to hand over the reins as National PTA President, I am grateful to all the people with whom I have worked and the many individuals who have taught me so much along the way. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve you as your president during this exciting time of growth and development for the PTA!
