ANNOUNCEMENT
July 12, 2003
Housatonic Community PTA held an informational meeting on the
topic of
NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND
Noting that the reauthorization of this law will touch the lives of all
members of our community; students, parents, teachers, administrators, and
community members at large, Housatonic Community PTA recently held an
informational meeting on this topic.
The two major purposes of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) are
to raise student achievement across the board and to eliminate the achievement
gap between students from different backgrounds. The law requires states and
school districts to deal forcefully with schools that are not improving
achievement and to ensure that all students are taught by highly qualified
teachers. There exists within this law a strong parent involvement component.
