Melinda became involved in the PTA in 2007, she became the VP of Programs right away. In 2008 she became the president of West Woods PTA and was also elected VP of Hamden Woman’s Club. Currently she is the President of the Hamden Town Council PTA. One of her goals was to increase membership within the local PTA/PTSA units. They implemented a cash incentive program. All of the units worked very hard to increase their membership. Her organizational skills, strong values and dedication to the PTA will be an asset to the CT PTSA as Vice President Membership Support.

I first became involved in PTA when my daughter was a kindergartener at Live Oaks Elementary School in 2000. A year or so later I became the Corresponding Secretary. I went on to hold the positions of Recording Secretary, Parliamentarian and Council Representative. I also chaired a number of events and committees including the Nominating Committee and Bylaws Committee. Because I believe in the work of the PTA and being an advocate for our children I continue my work in the PTA. I have served as Vice President and currently Recording Secretary at East Shore Middle School and have also chaired the Nominating Committee, Bylaws Committee and Spring Fundraiser and worked on my events held at the school. I also have been a member of the One Voice High School PTSA since its inception as a PTSA. In addition, I served on the Milford Council of PTA’s serving as the Recording Secretary, Treasurer and two terms as Council President from 2008-2010. I currently hold the position of Region III Director in the Connecticut PTSA and have also served as Chair of the Strategic Leadership Plan. In addition to my work with my PTA families, I also serve as the Government Chair for the United Way of Milford’s annual campaign drive. I have also volunteered with the annual Folks on Spoke event and currently serve on the Milford Celebrates 2011 Committee. I am also very active with the Foran High School Sports Booster Club and currently serve as their Recording Secretary. In addition to my volunteer work, I have worked for the City of Milford for 18 years. I also serve as the Recording Secretary for the city’s Board of Aldermen and numerous other Boards and Commissions in the City of Milford.
